Airjet Designs

AirJet Designs offer a  personal and “à la carte” service to VIP aircraft and business jet owners.

AirJet Designs is an award-winning aviation design studio that specializes in corporate jet, VIP, and Head of State aircraft interior design.  In 2013 they won two awards at the Yacht and Aviation Awards. They won Private Jet Concept with the Dolce Vita BBJ and Asia Pacific Private Jet Concept with the same plane.

The Airjet studio is headquartered in Toulouse, France, and has a satellite office in Shanghai, China. They offer unique interior creations and conceptualize styles that reflect the individual needs and tastes of their clients. Creativity and originality are at the heart of the designs they create. This can be seen in the projects that they have completed, in particular my favourite is their casino jet lounge. This is a height of opulence for those travelling and gambling!

As part of The Aero Experts Group, the designers at Airjet also benefit from the extensive experience of aircraft interior certification engineers working alongside them, this allows creativity to be “realistic” and comply with airworthiness requirements.

The Art De Vivre really is striking. The colour contrast and the use of gold makes this interior look elegant and creative. Black and white are a brave choice but it has been used so cleverly in this plane.

If you are purchasing a private jet I would recommend using this company to design the interior. They can mock up 3D design generation which makes it very clear what is proposed and what can be achieved.

Introducing the incredible Dassault Falcon 5X

Introducing the Falcon 5X

main-logo013_Falcon5X_2013USB42_465x220With much anticipation, Dassault Falcon have launched their new jet, the Falcon 5X. Dassault Falcon is a family company with a heritage of integrity and excellence. They have always invested in technology  and innovation, so we have been expecting great things from their latest jet. The new Falcon 5X is aesthetically rather beautiful. The model has been worked on under code name SMS since 2006, but details were announced at the National Business Aviation Association annual convention on 21 October 2013.  This mid-sized, long range jet has wonderful slick lines and is extremely elegant – it is sure to be a hit. The first flight is scheduled to take place in 2015, with an entry into service in 2017. If you’d like to pre-order your jet the price is around $45 million.

Falcon’s are known for their agility in the air, and this model also boasts manoeuvrability on the ground where their modest ramp presence means they can find a home in nearly any airport environment. High-speeds are seductive and part of the value of a Falcon is a wide speed envelope. As with previous Falcon generations, the wing of the 5X is optimized for both high- and low-speed performance. The Falcon 5X has a maximum range of 5,200 nautical miles at its long-range cruise speed of Mach .80. For coast-to-coast U.S. travel, or other trips of 3,000 nautical miles or more, you can fly even faster. Top speed is Mach .90. This speed is going to prove very attractive to those wishing to save their valuable time.

The Falcon 5X has a wide-body cabin with an all-new, fast and ultra-efficient wing. The 5X wing has a moderately swept leading edge and an innovative curved trailing edge. Constant and subtle wing contour changes control airflow at high speeds.

The added space with the The 5X cabin will transform your travel experience. There is more room to stand up or sit down and the spacious nature means that you can relax or work in comfort.

iPads are used for entertainment viewing and streaming content from tablets to cabin monitors. In a wireless world the 5X cabin has surpassed itself.  It offers the latest generation of the popular FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system, including its Skybox media server with a vast iTunes video and music library. The iPhone app even allows you to control lighting, volume level and entertainment options, right from the palm of your hand. This sleek and neat concept is an example of how everything has been perfectly thought through within the jet’s design.

There are 28 large windows in the 5X and this increase in natural light does more than improve the view. The light spilling in elevates ones mood and gives an even greater sense of space. The Falcon 5X also offers a unique window to the sky. The ceiling window offers an unprecedented direct view of the sky overhead to watch the stars sailing by.

There are plenty more incredible features to this brand new jet and Dassault Falcon have certainly got the aviation world talking.

Blue Star Jets

Blue Star Jets responded to the evolving needs of their clientele and set up one of the world’s largest private aircraft charter brokers. In June 2009 it launched the world’s first online social networking site for travellers seeking to fly privately.

This charter plane company boasts experience in all departments of brokering charter flights. They certainly have excellent customer service. I was made to feel that my request was carefully considered and that I was offered the best price possible. I gave them 24 hours notice for my flight from Istanbul to Manila. They were efficient and I felt utterly relaxed that they would arrange what I required. They boast that with as little as 4 hours notice, you could be jetting off in luxury to anywhere in the world, with no upfront costs, membership hassles or acquisition fees. I was highly impressed with their level of service.

Blue Star Jets high level services

Blue Star Jets delivers a high level of professionalism to all its clients. They offer a unique customer loyalty SkyCard program which entitles members to special privileges and services. The card benefits anyone flying five or more times a year and has several levels.

Blue Star Jets has access to over 4,000 private jet aircraft worldwide. They can offer transport by helicopter or by jet – ranging from light jets through to private jumbo jets. Safety is paramount and there is also the option to have an armed or unarmed security guard.

The journey we made was very easy and I couldn’t fault it. The plane was beautifully maintained and had ample space to work or relax. It made the trip very smooth and efficient and no time was wasted at either end of the journey. It’s a service that I would recommend and use again.

Five of the Most Expensive Private Jets

In the dawn of flying it was a dangerous and costly adventure that was experienced by very few. After WWII, aviation technology expanded and planes were manufactured in a variety of shapes and sizes. As the years have gone by, more and more people had access to flying. Now millions of passengers each year pack into the airports, then onto jets and fly all over the world. For the elite and rich, who were first able to enjoy this privilege, they moved themselves to First Class and now many have their own private jets.

For those with the money to invest in their own aircraft and crews they have the freedom and luxury to travel as they please. The list of celebrities and important figures who own jets is not entirely transparent, as privacy is often highly sought after, but here are five of the most expensive planes known to us at the moment.

The Boeing 747, which is familiar to all of us, is owned privately by several celebrities. A version of this plane is owned by Joseph Lau, a real estate investor based in Hong Kong. It is worth $153M. The space in the cabin allows any private owner to create a variety of different rooms. There is the Skylift area located above the main cabin and the opportunity to create personal suites, offices, a cinema and gym.

The jet owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is a 767-33A/ER, also known as the “Bandit“ due to its cockpit paint detail. The plane, which was originally meant to accommodate up to 300 passengers, could transfer a whole team from game to game with no trouble. The plane‘s interior is reported to be decorated using chestnut and gold. It is also said to feature a dining facility for 30 people and an anti-missile system to provide additional security.

Another 747 on our list belongs to the Sultan of Brunei and is said to be worth $233 million. The original price of the plane was around $100 million and the Sultan has spent in excess of another $100 million on renovating the interior. It is opulent in the extreme, with the most expensive luxury decorations. There is a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom, and are all decorated with gold and crystal, featuring washbasins made out of solid gold.

The Airbus A340-300 is owned by Alisher Usmanov and is said to be worth $350-500 million. Billionaire Alisher Ashmanov has named the plane Boukhan. It is the largest private plane in Russia, even bigger than the President Vladimir Putin’s Ilyushin Il-96.

And at the top of our list, is the Airbus A380. It is owned by Prince Alawaleed bin Talal, a Saudi businessman and investor. The value is approximately $500M topping the list of most expensive private jet. This model of Airbus A380 performs a fly-by at the Singapore Airshow and is in service in many airline fleets across the globe. The double-deck A380 is the world’s largest commercial aircraft flying today. The plane belonging to the Prince is said to have a concert hall, a Turkish bath, a garage for a Rolls-Royce and even a prayer room with electronic mats which automatically rotate to face Mecca.

Private Jets of the Rich and Famous

There is no arguing that private jet travel is for the elite and wealthy. When the wealth and status is of a multi billionaire the private jets are often modified and look incredible!

Donald Trump owned a Boeing 727-23. The plane was originally operated by American Airlines and Trump had the 1968 vintage jet remodelled.

It now seats 23 people in pale leather air chairs that are adorned with gold plated seatbelt buckles. The interior was also decorated with oil paintings and crystal based lamps to really add to the opulence. The Trump logo that is painted on the side of the aircraft is made of 23 carat gold leaf and catches the light in a truly wealthy way!

Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football club, is Russian richest man. He has a Boeing 767 which is rumoured to be called “the Bandit”.  This 767 looks understated and slick on the outside, but its interior is reportedly decorated with chestnut and gold. The aircraft can often be spotted at Luton Airport some 40 miles north of London, where Abramovich spends much of his time

Elvis Prestley owned a Convair 880 which he named Lisa Marie. This Convair 880 was customized with 28 seats instead of the usual 110. The tail of this preserved jet was painted with The King’s personal  logo. The interior of the jet was customized with plush sleeping quarters, a penthouse bedroom with a custom-made queen size bed, an executive bathroom with gold faucets and a gold washbasin, a videotape system linked to four TVs and a stereo system with fifty-two speakers, and a conference room finished in teak.

Richard Branson’s owns a Falcon 900EX. This is a French made, long range, ultra luxe corporate jet. The tail sports a blown up decal of Branson’s iris on the tail fin (the same, minus additional artistic work, done for Virgin Galactic). This incredible jet has a maximum cruising altitude of 36,000 feet, speed of mach 0.87 (662 mph). We can only imagine what sort of extravagances the Branson family has upgraded the aircraft with. The range and speed of the aircraft make it perfect for Branson, who frequently commutes from his home United Kingdom to his island in the Caribbean to business in Southern California. The aircraft itself is named Galactic Girl.

Gulfstream’s flagship aircraft has set a new around-the-world speed record. The Gulfstream G650 recently completed the fastest westbound, around-the-world flight for a non-supersonic aircraft. This model, with it’s ultra-long-range and ultra-large-cabin, circled the globe in 41 hours 7 minutes, establishing a world record in the C-1.l aircraft class. The record was officially certified by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale.

This makes the G650 the fastest certified civilian aircraft and it has now set a total of 38 records since 2011. This latest record meant that the plane recorded an average speed of 568.5 miles per hour (915 kilometers per hour). The journey itself started in San Diego and covered 20,310 nautical miles. The G650 stopped in Guam, Dubai and Cape Verde and each leg was flown at Mach 0.90. This meant that the total time for fuel stops was approximately 1.5 hours.

Five pilots shared the duties and they were Horne, Bud Ball, John McGrath, Ross Oetjen and Eric Parker. Each pilot was on the aircraft for the entirety of the flight. The G650 also carried Kris Maynard who was the official observer for the NAA.

The record attempt started at 9:08 p.m. local time on July 1 2013, with the G650 leaving San Diego’s Brown Field Municipal Airport. The airplane landed at Guam International Airport in 10 hours, 29 minutes. The G650 covered the second leg — Guam to Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport in 10 hours; the third leg — Dubai to Cape Verde’s AmÍlcar Cabral International Airport — in 8 hours, 52 minutes; and the final leg — Cape Verde to Brown Field in San Diego — in 10 hours, 10 minutes. The flight beat the previous record, set by a Gulfstream GIV, by more than four hours.

“This is a momentous occasion for Gulfstream and business aviation,” said Larry Flynn, president, Gulfstream. “This was an awesome display of the G650’s speed and range, two performance capabilities that help make this aircraft the industry standard since entering service in 2012.”

It is a fantastic achievement for Gulfstream and one that is surely set to revolutionise private jet business travel in the future.
